The Ermita del Cristo de la Misericordia, formerly dedicated to Nuestra Señora del Amparo, is a temple of great historical and devotional value in Fuente Obejuna. Its origin is linked to the founding of the Brotherhood of the Holy Charity of Jesus in the municipality, documented in 1547.
The church has a single nave and shows at least two different construction stages, visible both in the main chapel and in the rest of the building. In the main chapel there is an altarpiece of carved and polychrome wood from the second half of the 18th century, which houses the image of the Cristo de la Misericordia or de la Caridad (Christ of Mercy or Charity), dated in the same period.
The set is completed with oil paintings mainly from the 18th century, stylistically related to the Ayala school. All this makes the chapel a place of great interest to know the religious and artistic heritage of Fuente Obejuna.
