The Guadiato region was an area greatly affected by the Civil War. Its environment was the scene of decisive events for the development of the conflict, not only in the province of Cordoba, but also throughout Andalusia.
The mountains that separate this region from the neighboring region of Los Pedroches saw the establishment of an extensive front line that would last throughout the years of fighting.
From April 1937 until the first months of 1939 the place was the scene of constant and merciless clashes where the control of every meter of land and every small elevation meant a high number of casualties.
