Fountain of the Grifos

  • Villaharta

The San Rafael Fountain is one of the most unique elements of Villaharta’s everyday heritage. Its origin dates back to 1955, when it was inaugurated to supply water to the neighbors at a time when there was still no running water in the houses.

The water of the fountain comes through a subway gallery from a spring located next to the Plaza de la Constitución, which reinforces its link with the urban and social history of the municipality. For decades, it was a meeting point and an essential place in the daily life of the town.

The Villaharta Town Hall has restored its surroundings, preserving original elements of great sentimental value, such as the tiles with the image of the Archangel San Rafael and the date of inauguration. Today, the fountain is a small corner with memory, ideal for discovering the closest and most authentic history of the town.
