San José Well

  • Fuente Obejuna

The Well of San José, located in the village of El Porvenir de la Industria, is one of the most representative elements of the mining past of the Guadiato Valley. This well was part of the intense extractive activity that marked the economic and social history of the area, linked to the exploitation of coal.

Today, the enclave allows visitors to approach this industrial legacy and understand what it was like to work in the mines, as well as the importance it had for the development of the region. The visit offers a different experience, combining heritage, history and collective memory.

The Pozo de San José can be visited through guided tours organized by the City Council of Fuente Obejuna, which allows to know in depth the value of the complex and its historical context.
