The megalithic tombs of Los Blázquez are one of the oldest testimonies of human settlement in the municipality. They are located in different parts of the municipality and belong to the Chalcolithic period, approximately between 2500 and 2000 BC.
These funerary constructions consisted of large stone slabs placed vertically on the ground, covered by an upper slab and originally protected by an earthen mound. The entrance of the tombs was oriented towards the east, a common feature in this type of prehistoric monuments.
Their presence allows us to imagine the beliefs, rituals and forms of organization of the first communities that inhabited this territory. Today they constitute a heritage resource of great value for understanding the long history of Los Blázquez and the Guadiato Valley, from prehistoric times to the present day.
